We are a very small group of people dedicated to enhancing the Worship Service with musical praise to our God. This season we are presenting music that coordinates with the lectionary each week.
Jan Short came to the D.C. area from upstate New York. She studied piano and voice at the Crane Department of Music at Potsdam State University in New York.
Jan and husband Dwight are parents of Michael Short. He and wife Jennifer have two children, Ryan and Jenna.
Choir and Music
Handbell Choir: Alice McCord Ricketts
Alice Ricketts is now serving as director of our Handbell Choir.
Alice has been playing handbells since the age of 12, but this is her first experience as director.
The Handbell Choir rehearses at 5:30 on Tuesday nights and anyone with an interest in ringing will be warmly welcomed.
No previous experience is needed – you don’t even need to
read music – we will provide love, support, training and forgiveness for the occasional mistake.
We’d love to have more “ding-a-lings” in the choir.
Our hope is that our music may touch your heart and bring you closer to God.
We are always open to having new members join the choir, and we can utilize all voices; but at this time, we are in particular need of altos and basses.
I would like to reiterate that you do not need to read music, as we go over each part as needed. All that is needed is a willingness to learn, a heart that is open, and a desire to be part of a group that honors God.
If you feel led by the Spirit to be a part of this group, come on out on Tuesday evenings for an hour of learning, fun, and fellowship.
